RE: Lighting for new RV Building

Don't know if you are planning to do the work yourself or hire it done by a pro, but I have used what the hardware stores here call Shop Lights. They are a 4 foot double tube florescent, 2- 40 watt tubes. They put out a lot of light, even and cover a pretty good area. I use them in my shop and in my other out buildings. Very reasonable to buy & have a good life.

RE: Black Tank is Plugged...Suggestions Please

Thanks for all your suggestions. The problem is solved. While I worked the snake from the business end one of our neighbors in the park worked their snake on the toilet end. After about 20 minutes it finally let loose, yes I was sitting there looking up when it happened, yes I was covered in XXXX. Thanks for asking.

RE: Easy Way to Improve Mileage

If you want to figure your true cost or savings your need to figure the fuel in Gallons Per Hour.
You save a little going slower but it takes you longer to get there. You're not saving as much as you think.
HMMMMM, oh never mind.

RE: Onan oil viscosity help

I called Onan tech support a couple of years ago. The Tech support guy said 15-40 is recommended and synthetic is OK. He then went on to suggest using whatever I used in my engine.
Tom
My last 2 gas Onan's called for straight 30 weight, unless in very cold temps which isn't your case. That said many of us running 15W-40 in the engine also use it in the Onan to simplify carrying just one oil. I haven't talked to a Onan tech but there have been many post on this site relaying that Onan tech's at RV rallies say 15W-40 is great.

RE: trans fluid for ford

If you don't have a book that tells you what fluid, pull the dip stick and wipe it off. Many dip sticks have the fluid stamped on the stick, worth a look.

RE: Redding thru to Shasta area.. One nighter ??

There is a very nice casino in Corning. If you don't need hookups, and lots of folks run their gennys, they have a big, paved RV parking area and a great buffet for dinner. Although it usually isn't free if I stay inside to long, but it is convenient and fun.

RE: battery hookup

Try this, I had the same issue on one of my other coaches. I would get a noticeable spark when I made the final connection after having the batteries disconnected. Didn't matter which pole, just the final connection. What I found was, if I touched the post with the bat cable & got the spark, if after a couple of seconds I pulled it off & retouched it, no spark. Leave it off for several minutes, get a spark, & that was with the battery disconnect in the off position, What I found out after talking to a technician was that there are sensors & relays that take a charge, even with the disconnect switch off. That is why after the charging current hit them, no further spark unless the connection was off again for several minutes. Give it a try, touch & get the spark, after a couple seconds pull the lead & retouch, if no spark on the second touch, you don't have a problem. good luck.

RE: Diesel Soot Removal???

To remove the soot, you might try Simple Green. It is a de-greaser and cuts engine oil & grease. I had a soot mark on the wall at the bed and Simple Green & a bit of elbow grease made it disappear. If the stains on the shirts have been run through the dryer, they are probably set but you might try Shout stain remover, have had some luck with that. Good luck.

RE: Air bags and Heat

After further investigation, I don't think anything happened to the air bags, I think the air tanks bleed down, which caused the alarm to go off when I turned on the key. So I really think everything is ok, from what I understand the tanks can bleed down while in long term storage.
Thanks to all.
Happy RVing
Yes Sir, that is correct.

RE: Sailun tires

I very much favor products made in America and have always been a guy who wants good tires on all my rigs, they carry everything I love. I don't know if tires made in China are of good quality or not, but a man I know works for a tire store and has a saying that gives me comfort when I write the check for top brand tires. He says "good tires aren't cheap, and cheap tires aren't good", gives me comfort when I by the good ones.

RE: TracVision R6...HELP

Hi Jeremy,
Are you using the KVH 12v RECIEVER or the MULTI SERVICE INTERFACE BOX?
You must use the multi service box with Dish Net in order to use your 311 box.
If you are only trying to use your home receiver, it wont comunicate with the dish.
Nick-
OK, I am so un-tech it is sad, but I thought many folks just took their home receiver to the MH when they are on the road. Does this last sentence say you can't do that?

RE: Diesel Engine, How hot is too hot?

And I would add to the above post that there can be a few degrees difference in gauges. My 1990 CC / Cat, has 195 degree thermostats in it and runs right on 195, went into Palm Springs 2 years ago at 115 degrees and it never hit 205. My Detroit in the Prevost runs at about 197ish on the gauge & on a pull will go to about 215 when the fan kicks into high speed, It is a 2 speed electric clutch set up, and pulls it right back to the 197 mark, going up and down till the hard pull is over.
